Guide to Buying a Camping Stove
Camping Stoves
A good stove can make a huge difference to your trip. The range available is massive, from the cheap to the high end so there are a few things you should take into consideration before getting your camp stove.
Tips and questions when buying a stove:
“Do I need a portable camping stove?”
Many campers are quite happy without a stove. You may be camping near shops or resteraunts and not planning to head far from such areas. Cold or dry food can be sufficient for a few days. However a stove can bring a little luxury and sometimes be essential.
Size/Weight of the Stove
Think about how and for how long you will be moving the stove around. There are some brilliant designs that take very small canisters out there. If you have a trailer or are on a campsite then it will not cause much of a problem. Also bear in mind that your camping stove kit can include utensils, pots, pans, trays and so on.
Multi Burner Stoves
A large stove means a large gas canister so you need to have room for it and be happy transporting it. More burners mean easier cooking and more options for what to make. Some even have a grill. This is very handy for large groups. If there is just one or two people then a single burner can provide all your needs.
Cooking can be nearly impossible without one so make sure you have a wind break. A multi burner stove should have a three sided wind break and it can help to bring an extra one.
