Essential Camping Kit
There are some things that you really can not go without on a camping trip. We have compiled a list of essentials in case you are worried about forgetting something. The checklist is; food, tent, sleeping bag, water, first aid kit, torch, knife, clothes, lantern, and stove.
1) Food
Most campers find mealtimes one of the best parts of camping. Campsites will normally have a small shop somewhere nearby where you can buy food. If you plan to go a long way from civilisation then make sure you know what you are doing. Get some proffesional advice and be well prepared.
2) Sleeping Bag
A good sleeping bag means a good nights sleep. Make sure you get the right one for the type of camping you will be doing.
3) Tent
A tent means shelter from the elements and becomes your home away from home. There is a huge range to choose from so narrow it down by considering climate, berth, height, comfort and weight.
4) Water
Water is impossible to live without. Your preparation will depend on where you are camping. Large, foldable containers are useful and even multi-packs of bottled water can be very cheap. Your campsite may have a water supply and there are many ways of filtering and purifying water.
5) First Aid Kit
You never know what can happen so always take a first aid kit on your camping trip. There are many good compact kits available that will give you basic instructions too.
6) Flashlight
A torch is essential to find your way around at night. It can help you find your tent or avoid stepping on your tent pegs. You can opt for water proof, extra durable or one that converts into a lantern for a few ideas.
8) Rain Gear
Getting wet can be a disaster that can make you miserable or even unwell. As always it depends on where you plan to go camping but the most popular choice is a light weight mac or jacket that can fold away to the size of a pocket. You can get these from almost any camping shop.
9) Lantern
Without a lantern your activities will have to come to an end as soon as it gets dark. Take a lantern along for more pleasant evenings.
10) Camp Stove
A camping stove means hot food or a cup of tea. You may even need it to purify water.
